The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is: To know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ. To develop a creative supportive fellowship. To expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Our Women’s group meets every 2nd Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the church.

Our Women’s Group has many mission and outreach activities ongoing. We support our local Day Reporting Center. A meal is taken into them monthly. We work closely with DHHR at Christmastime to provide food baskets and gifts for the shut-ins and elderly in our community. We support our local Food Pantry that is located at the Presbyterian Church. We support the Faltis Shelter, a place of safety for children. We also work with our men’s group during the Potato Festival. We support the SOZO Recovery House (sozorecoverywv.com) in our community as well.

We work to help regional missions such as the House of the Carpenter (houseofthecarpenter.com), Scott’s Run Settlement House (srsh.org), Mary’s Cradle (maryscradle.com), Heart and Hand House (heartandhandhouse.org) and Children’s Home Society (childhswv.org).

Our women also work at many activities within our Church. We host congregational dinners. We host a choir appreciation dinner in honor of our choir, and a pastor appreciation dinner in honor of our pastor. We supply light breakfasts and lunches for various group who may use our Church facility for district and parish meetings. We often supply lunches or dinners for families who have laid to rest a loved one so they can have a family time of sharing and fellowship in our Church Fellowship Hall following the funeral.

We also get together occasionally for a good “spring cleaning” of the church’s kitchen and nursery. We have fund raisers, such as yard sales or hot dog luncheons. In the fall, along with the United Methodist Men, we make apple butter to sell. These are times of wonderful fellowship and enjoyed by all who help out.

Agape Circle

Meets every 4th Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the church.

The Agape Circle is a very active group of women. In 2022, they helped with many different missions. They held an Italian Dinner Fundraiser and a yard sale to raise money for their outreach programs. They have supported the Summersville Ministerial Association as well as Love (a community outreach to help those less fortunate), the local Food Pantry, our Christmas Angel Tree and the Shoebox Ministry. The Circle also supports all of our church college students. The give donations to help with Bible School. In 2022, they also helped some church members who needed some assistance. They assist with local and worldwide missions (such as the Shoebox ministry).

The Agape Circle of United Women in Faith recently began a new mission project. They have provided a Keurig coffee maker, K-pods and lots of goodies for the workers at Summersville Long Term Care Facility. This will be an ongoing mission to show our love, support and gratitude for all the care providers and workers at the Facility.

All women are warmly welcomed into this group of ladies. We invite to you come enjoy times of fellowship.

Sonshine Circle

Meets every 4th Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the church.

The Sonshine Circle has two main missions they work with throughout the year. They have “adopted” the Day Reporting Center and take lunch into them once monthly. When the pandemic hit, they were taking a meal into the DRC once a month. During the pandemic, they began to take all the “fixings” for a meal and the DRC people put it together. They have continued with this method since the pandemic. They supply a meal for approximately 75 people once a month.

Also, they supply duffle bags for the Faltis Shelter which is a local shelter for needy children. These children often come to the shelter with nothing and the Sonshine Circle provides them with these duffle bags so each child has something of their own and something they can keep and carry their belongings in.

The Circle will have various fund raisers throughout the year. In the fall of 2022, they sold coffee mugs with inspirational sayings and Bible verses on them. They raised several hundred dollars with this. The Circle ladies also work closely with the core United Methodist Women’s Group for things going on in the church such as dinners, luncheons for various activities. They work in the kitchen during Bible School to be sure the children have a meal each evening.

This group is very active in the church and would encourage all women to join them for their monthly meetings.
